The Unicorn and The Horse

June 7, 2018

Well it’s Memorial Day Weekend and our third wedding. We were selected by Vicki and Chris to provide their Wedding Photography at the Shawnee Inn, Shawnee on the Delaware,(www.shawneeinn.com/celebrate/weddings).A beautiful old world hotel and resort on the backs for the Delaware River and a beautiful backdrop for any Wedding, unless Mr. Weatherman has other plans. This was the second Wedding in two weekends that the couple we were photographing lived in New York and we were not able to meet in person, so their decision was made based on our listing, offerings and reviews in The Knot.I did get the chance to meet with Vicki & Chris a few months in advance of their Wedding to do their Engagement session. They seemed completely normal (you’ll understand why I say this and why the title of this blog as we move along and you see some of their images). As the day looked like rain the outdoor ceremony was moved undercover and their cocktail hour to the large hotel front porch. Vicki looked stunning as did here attendants. The flowers were designed by silksNmore, (www.silksnmoreflowers.com), and were perfect for the bridal party and the ceremony and reception site.Chris and his crew, looked dapper in their apparel as well.We found out that Chris has a gift for music and he sang the vows he wrote, to Vicki during their ceremony, which was officiated by Fr. Nick who offered a beautiful wedding message and helped with the symbolic ritual of hand tying the couple had requested. The couple really get involved in choosing many humorous things to accent their wedding, like little hand holding the place cards and a sign saying “Can we give you a hand finding your seat.”Apparently, the day before, during the rehearsal, the entire wedding party showed up in either full body animal suits or full animal head masks!!!!! Well the masks made their way into the Reception as well, but none of the guests thought much of it, it was just lots of fun. The cake topper was a traditional B&G with a mini unicorn and horse head on them to carry on the theme!Working with us that day was videographer Fred Tamarri of YD Productions, (http://www.ydproductions.com), who was a true professional and pleasure to work with.Entertainment was provided by the ever popular DJ Paris Kiriakis of Weddings by Paris, (www.weddingsbyparis.com), who, as always, kept the dance floor full and hoppin’ all night long and one of our favorite DJ Professionals to work with. The staff at Shawnee did a great job and we’ll be back there in December, as another out of state couple has asked us to photograph their Wedding there. All kidding aside, Vicki & Chris’s Wedding, was beautiful, touching, fun and crazy all rolled into one.Linda and I couldn’t have been more honored to be chosen to be part of their Special Day and we wish them a lifetime of Love, Happiness and Music.
